Your Complete Guide to Qlosi Eye Drops for Presbyopia
Qlosi is an FDA-approved prescription eye drop that helps adults over 40 see clearly up close — no surgery, no reading glasses required. Here’s everything you need to know.
What Are Qlosi Eye Drops?
Qlosi (pilocarpine hydrochloride 0.4%) is an FDA-approved prescription eye drop designed to treat presbyopia — the age-related loss of near vision that typically begins after 40. If you’ve started holding menus at arm’s length, squinting at your phone, or reaching for reading glasses more often, you know the feeling.
Qlosi offers a non-surgical, non-invasive alternative to reading glasses. One drop per eye, once or twice daily, and most patients notice clearer near vision within 20–30 minutes — lasting up to 8 hours.
CNL Medical’s board-certified providers can evaluate whether Qlosi is right for you and send a prescription to your pharmacy the same day — entirely online, no office visit needed.
How Does Qlosi Work?
Qlosi works by gently constricting the pupil — creating what’s called a “pinhole effect.” Think of it like squinting to bring something into focus, but done precisely and comfortably by the drop itself.
This increased depth of focus allows nearby objects to appear sharper without altering the physical structure of your eye. Unlike surgery or corrective lenses, Qlosi works with your eye’s natural optics. The effects begin within 20–30 minutes of application and can last up to 8 hours.
What Results Can You Expect?
Most patients with mild to moderate presbyopia experience meaningful improvement in near vision. Here’s what day-to-day life looks like on Qlosi:
Individual Results Vary
Results depend on factors like pupil size, degree of presbyopia, and overall eye health. Your CNL Medical provider will help assess whether Qlosi is the right fit for your specific situation.

Both Qlosi and Vizz are FDA-approved prescription eye drops for presbyopia, but they use different active ingredients. Qlosi contains pilocarpine 0.4% in preservative-free single-use vials. Vizz contains aceclidine and comes in a multi-dose bottle. Your CNL Medical provider can help determine which is better suited to your situation.
Both contain pilocarpine, but they differ in concentration and format. Qlosi is 0.4% pilocarpine in preservative-free single-use vials — gentler for sensitive eyes. Vuity is 1.25% pilocarpine in a multi-dose bottle with a preservative. Read our complete guide to Vuity, or your provider can walk you through which is the better fit.
Unopened foil pouches should be stored in the refrigerator. Once you open a pouch, the vials inside can be kept at room temperature (up to 77°F) for up to 30 days. Discard any unused vials after 30 days at room temperature.

Important Safety Information
Please review the following before starting Qlosi. If any of these apply to you and you haven’t already told us, contact us before beginning treatment.
Night Vision
Because Qlosi constricts the pupil, it can reduce vision in low-light conditions. Use caution when driving at night or in poorly lit environments, especially in the first few days of use.
Retinal Conditions
Extra caution is advised for patients with a history of retinal detachment, prior serious eye injury, or previous eye surgery. A thorough medical screening is completed for every CNL Medical patient.
Eye Inflammation (Iritis)
Qlosi is not recommended for patients with active iritis. If you experience eye pain, redness, light sensitivity, or worsening blurry vision, stop use and contact us right away.
Contact Lens Use
Remove contact lenses before each use and wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting them. This helps the drop absorb properly and reduces irritation.
Single-Use Vials
Each vial is for one use only. Do not save opened vials — Qlosi is preservative-free, meaning bacteria can grow in a used vial. Discard after each application even if liquid remains.
Provider Oversight
Every CNL Medical patient completes a medical screening and provider review to help ensure that Qlosi is used safely and appropriately for their individual situation.
